Net proceeds from the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot support the growth of the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund, managed by our partners in philanthropy, the Outer Banks Community Foundation. Established 2013, the fund is a permanent charitable endowment, invested for growth so its earnings will support nonprofit grants — now and forever — to improve the health and wellness for all Outer Banks people. Decades from now, even if our event is no longer taking place, the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund will continue to grow and make grants to support health and wellness projects.
The Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot is the cornerstone fundraising event for the endowment. Contributors to the race, which come in the form of sponsorships from businesses and individuals are key to its success and help defray many of its costs. Additionally, people can contribute directly to the fund by direct donation as well as by participating in other fundraising efforts like our one here with the Outer Banks Popcorn Shoppe!

The Outer Banks Community Foundation was organized in 1982 as a public charity to help meet local needs in Dare County and across all Outer Banks communities, from Corolla to Ocracoke Island. The Community Foundation accomplishes its mission by increasing charitable giving in the area, by managing charitable funds for individuals and agencies, and by targeting grants toward the community’s most pressing needs and promising opportunities.
